Isidro Metapan - Halcones 95-89

Very expected game when 8th ranked Halcones (3-8) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Isidro Metapan (7-4) 95-89. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Isidro Metapan players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Dominican center Miguel Evangelista (210-91) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and American Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit Mercy) supported him with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 30 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists by American point guard Marcus Thomas (191-95, college: Rosemont) did not help to save the game for Halcones. His fellow American import forward Ronald Patten (201-93, college: Wisc.-Whitewater) added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Five Halcones players scored in double figures. Halcones' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Isidro Metapan have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with San Salvador. Halcones at the other side keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Isidro Metapan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Halcones will play at home against the league's second-placed Santa Tecla (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
